TariffSaver

TariffSaver ("TariffSaver", "we", "us", or "our") helps users manage compatible smart devices based on electricity prices and user-defined plans.

This Privacy Policy explains what information TariffSaver processes, why it is processed, how it is stored, and what choices and rights you have.

By using TariffSaver, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we process

Account information

If you create a TariffSaver account, we process information necessary to provide the account, including your email address, account authentication information, account verification status, and identifiers required to associate your TariffSaver data with your account.

Passwords are handled by the authentication provider and are not stored by TariffSaver in plain text.

SmartThings information

If you choose to connect your SmartThings account, TariffSaver receives access to SmartThings information and permissions that you explicitly authorize through the SmartThings authorization process. Depending on the permissions you grant and the devices you choose to use with TariffSaver, this may include identifiers of compatible devices, device names, device capabilities, device state, and authorization tokens or other technical credentials required to communicate with SmartThings.

TariffSaver uses this information only to provide the SmartThings-related functionality you request, such as displaying devices, reading their state, and switching them on or off according to your plans. TariffSaver does not receive your SmartThings password. You can disconnect SmartThings from TariffSaver at any time.

TariffSaver settings and plans

We process information that you create or select when using TariffSaver, including devices you add, device names and settings, your selected tariff country, electricity-price limits, plan names, plan intervals and schedules, active and saved plans, and settings needed to apply those plans to your devices.

Electricity price information

TariffSaver retrieves electricity-market price information from external electricity-price sources, including Nord Pool-related data. Electricity-market prices themselves are not personal data. However, your selected tariff country and plans based on those prices may be stored as part of your TariffSaver account settings.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, TariffSaver may process a device or push-notification token, notification preferences, and technical information needed to deliver notifications. Notifications may include information about price availability, plan expiration, or failures to switch a device. You can disable notifications through TariffSaver or through your device settings.

Technical and diagnostic information

When you use TariffSaver, our infrastructure and service providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and maintain the service. This may include IP address, date and time of requests, application or browser information, device and operating-system information, server logs, error and diagnostic information, and security-related events. We use this information for service operation, troubleshooting, security, abuse prevention, and reliability.

2. How we use information

We process information to create and maintain your account; authenticate you; synchronize your data; connect TariffSaver to SmartThings at your request; display and manage devices; read device state; switch devices according to plans; retrieve electricity prices; create, save, update, and execute plans; deliver requested notifications; provide support; diagnose errors; maintain reliability; protect TariffSaver and its users; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Legal bases for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performance of a contract, consent where required for optional notifications, device permissions, or advertising-related processing, legitimate interests in operating and securing TariffSaver, and legal obligations.

4. Service providers and third parties

TariffSaver may use Google services, including Google Cloud and Firebase, for authentication, hosting, databases, infrastructure, push notifications, logging, and diagnostics. If you connect SmartThings, information is exchanged with Samsung SmartThings according to the permissions you grant. TariffSaver may obtain electricity-market information from third-party data providers and does not intentionally send your account information to them unless technically necessary.

5. Advertising

TariffSaver uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Depending on your location, device settings, consent choices, and the type of advertising shown, Google and its partners may process advertising or device identifiers, IP address, device and operating-system information, application information, approximate location, advertising interaction information, and consent signals.

Where required by law, TariffSaver asks for consent before personalized advertising. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, advertising choices are managed through a consent management platform supporting applicable Google requirements. You may choose not to consent to personalized advertising. TariffSaver may still display non-personalized or limited advertisements. You can review or change advertising privacy choices from within TariffSaver where available.

6. Cookies, local storage, and device identifiers

TariffSaver and its service providers may use application storage, browser storage, cookies, or similar technologies for authentication, settings, security, privacy choices, and delivering or measuring advertisements. Where consent is legally required, TariffSaver requests it before non-essential storage or advertising-related processing.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data only as reasonably necessary. Account-related data is generally retained while your account remains active. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize data that is no longer necessary, subject to backup cycles, limited security or diagnostic logs, and legal retention requirements. SmartThings authorization information will no longer be used after disconnection or deletion.

8. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your TariffSaver account from within the application. Deletion may stop active plans, disconnect SmartThings, remove devices, plans, settings, notification registrations, and other account-related data. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or systems where necessary for security, technical, or legal reasons.

9. Your privacy rights

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data; object to certain processing; request portability; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to applicable legal conditions. In Latvia, you may also contact the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (Datu valsts inspekcija).

10. International data transfers

Some service providers may process information outside your country of residence. Where required by law, appropriate safeguards are used, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful mechanisms.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data. However, no internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping access to your account and connected third-party accounts secure.

12. Children

TariffSaver is not intended for children under the age at which they can independently consent under applicable law. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling purposes.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when TariffSaver changes, when functionality is introduced, or when legal requirements change. The current version will be available through TariffSaver or on the TariffSaver website. If a change materially affects processing, we may provide additional notice.

Welcome to TariffSaver. These Terms of Use govern your use of the TariffSaver application and related services.

By using TariffSaver, you agree to these Terms.

1. What TariffSaver does

TariffSaver helps you schedule and control compatible smart devices based on electricity price data and rules selected by you.

TariffSaver may connect to third-party services such as SmartThings and electricity price data providers.

TariffSaver does not supply electricity and is not an electricity retailer, energy exchange, or smart-device manufacturer.

2. Electricity price data

Electricity price information displayed or used by TariffSaver is obtained from third-party sources.

We aim to process this information correctly, but we cannot guarantee that price data will always be available, complete, accurate, or delivered on time.

You should not rely on TariffSaver as the sole source of electricity pricing information where accurate pricing is critical.

3. Device automation

TariffSaver may send commands to connected devices according to plans created by you.

Device control depends on systems outside TariffSaver's control, including:

your internet connection;
the device and its manufacturer;
SmartThings or another connected provider;
cloud services;
electricity price data availability.

Commands may therefore occasionally be delayed, fail, or not be delivered.

TariffSaver does not guarantee that a device will switch ON or OFF at an exact time.

You are responsible for deciding whether a device is appropriate for automated control.

Do not use TariffSaver to control equipment where an incorrect, delayed, or missed command could create a safety risk, cause injury, or result in significant property damage.

4. Savings

TariffSaver is designed to help users make use of lower electricity-price periods.

However, we do not guarantee any particular financial saving.

Actual costs depend on your electricity contract, taxes, network charges, device consumption, price data, and other factors outside TariffSaver's control.

5. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining access to your account and for activity performed through it.

You must provide accurate information where required for operation of the service.

You may disconnect connected providers or delete your TariffSaver account using the available account controls.

6. Third-party services

TariffSaver integrates with services operated by third parties, including smart-home providers.

Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for outages, changes, restrictions, or discontinued functionality of third-party services.

A third-party provider may change its API or service in a way that temporarily or permanently affects TariffSaver functionality.

7. Availability

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue parts of TariffSaver when necessary for maintenance, security, technical reasons, or development of the service.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

attempt to interfere with or disrupt TariffSaver;
attempt to access accounts or data belonging to another user;
misuse the service or connected third-party APIs;
use TariffSaver for unlawful purposes.

9. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in our .

Where TariffSaver connects to third-party providers, the minimum information necessary to provide the requested integration may be processed.

10. Intellectual property

TariffSaver, including its software, interface, branding, and original content, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms give you permission to use the service but do not transfer ownership of TariffSaver or its intellectual property to you.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

TariffSaver is provided on an "as available" basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

unavailable or incorrect third-party price data;
internet or cloud-service outages;
failures of SmartThings or other connected providers;
device failures;
delayed, unsuccessful, or duplicated device commands.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when TariffSaver changes or when legal or operational requirements change.

The current version will always be available within the application or on the TariffSaver website.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Latvia, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights that may apply to you under the laws of your country of residence.
